SUMMARY:Deepdive on Torsions: Understanding the Spine in Suspension with Anoxia and Kasm
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\n\n\n\nGet nerdy about anatomy\, and learn about the biomechanics of torsion. This class will cover how to get in and out of torsions\, how to prepare and protect your body\, and offer some hands-on exercises to understand torsions more deeply. We’ll explore how factors like height\, harness\, body position\, and load point affect the torsions we can create. This class is a combination of lecture\, demo\, and hands on tying. \n  \nClass Prerequisites: \nFor folks tying: \n\nMust be able to tie a suspendable upper-body harness (ideally in a timely manner)\nMust be able to tie a suspendable thighs-together structure (can be a simple double-column\, or a mermaid/willow tie\, etc etc)\nMust be able to tie a suspendable single column tie\nMust know top and bottom lock-offs for uplines on a single point\nMust be able to assess and solve for nerve issues in your choice of harnesses\nMust be able to communicate with your tying partner in suspension\n\nFor folks being tied: \n\nMust be experienced in rope suspension\nMust be able to sustain multiple 20-30 minute sequences\nMust be able to safely twist in your spine to both sides\nMust be able to assess risk of muscle strain or injury in your body\nMust be able to assess and solve for nerve issues in your choice of harnesses\nMust be able to communicate with your tying partner in suspension\n\nPre-reqs are non-negotiable\, and students who do not demonstrate proficiency in the required tied structures will be asked not to suspend. \n  \nClass Materials: \n\nRopes for your suspendable upper and lower body ties (likely 3-8 ropes)\nRopes for your uplines (at least 3)\nRigging materials for single-point suspension (this can be a ring\, rigging plate\, carabiners\, etc)\nSafety shears or another appropriate cutting tool\nAnything else you might want for class (water\, blanket\, snacks\, note taking tools)\n\n\n\n\nLocation to be provided to ticketholders prior to event.\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Improvised Harnesses with Anoxia and Kasm
DESCRIPTION:This class explores the art and structure of improvised harnesses — creating intentional\, creative designs beyond standard forms. We’ll dive into how to predict and manage load\, assess risk and safety\, and apply foundational structural principles to support both function and aesthetic. Students will learn to make thoughtful\, informed choices about tension\, line placement\, and body balance\, developing a deeper understanding of how structure can shape experience. This class emphasizes creativity\, adaptability\, and structural awareness as tools for expressive\, interesting\, functional rope. \nPre-requisites: \nFor folks tying: \n\nMust be experienced tying a variety of suspendable upper and lower body harnesses\nMust know top and bottom lock-offs for uplines on a single point\nMust be able to assess and solve for nerve issues in your harnesses\nMust be able to communicate with your tying partner in suspension\n\nFor folks being tied: \n\nMust be experienced in rope suspension\nMust be able to assess and solve for nerve issues in your choice of harnesses\nMust be able to communicate with your tying partner in suspension\n\nPre-reqs are non-negotiable\, and students who do not demonstrate proficiency in the required tied structures will be asked not to suspend. \nEquipment: \n\nRopes for your harnesses (likely 3-8 ropes)\nRopes for your uplines (at least 3)\nRigging materials for single-point suspension (this can be a ring\, rigging plate\, carabiners\, etc)\nSafety shears or another appropriate cutting tool\nAnything else you might want for class (water\, blanket\, snacks\, note taking tools)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation will be given to ticketholders prior to event.
